Our Voices: Julian from NPH Honduras
Welcome to Our Voices: a series of letters written by children and youths in the NPH family. Julian*, who is 15-years-old, begins by telling us about the COVID-19 quarantine at Rancho Santa Fe.
September 28, 2020 - Honduras
How have you been? I hope you're safe.
I would like to let you know that I am healthy, thanks to God. I have felt protected during the crisis we are going through. However, I am worried for my family and friends, and also other people who care about me, such as my godparents. They are so nice! I am always very grateful to God, because he enables people to help me without asking for anything back.
What I have enjoyed the most about the COVID-19 quarantine is that we can spend time together as a family. What I don't like is that we can't go out to some places outside Rancho Santa Fe. We all pray for this pandemic to end soon, so that we can be with family and friends again.
In this quarantine I have been doing some activities, such as reading, drawing, working out with my housemates, watching movies and cooking. Also, I do my homework assigned by the teachers. I help to keep our home clean and my personal things organized.
I finish by dedicating this thought of gratitude to you. Love is not measured by closeness, gifts, or physical contact. Sometimes love manifests itself when someone thinks of you, when someone asks God for you, when despite the distance someone is looking over you.
Thank you, because despite we are far away, despite the fact that we do not know each other in person, you think of me. Thank you for all your love. God bless your life and your family in these difficult times.
Julian has four other siblings who live at Rancho Santa Fe. They arrived in 2013 after their mother died and their father abandoned them. He loves to play soccer and his favorite subject at school is physical education. One day he would like to be an artist.
