Father's Day
NPH Honduras celebrates our fathers and father figures.
March 31, 2009 - Honduras
"Some people have asked me, 'Why have a father's day celebration? You run a Home for orphans.'" spoke Stefan Feuerstein, our National Director, while standing on stage in front of our family here at NPH Honduras. "Well," he continued, "I tell them, 'we all have fathers, both biological and figurative.' And here at the ranch we have many people who are father figures in the lives of our children." So, on March 19th, we here at the Rancho Santa Fe in Honduras joined together to give thanks to those men in our lives who have given so much for everyone here. | | |

Yolanda leading the way
| [1/7]

| The ceremony began with our MC, the always elegantly dressed Yolanda, in her leopard print shirt, gold earrings, gold shoes and golden book holding the order of events. She gracefully showed us the way through a series of ever interesting and wonderful skits, songs, and theatrical events. To give thanks to our fathers and father figures, the pequeños in our Montessori program sang a wonderful song…they nailed it. A puppet show by the children in the Estimulación (or Special Education) class was also a terrific sight. Each Tío and teacher, the night watchmen and maintenance staff were all invited up onto stage to receive a basket of candies and a letter of thanks from the kids here at the ranch. But it was a group of 5th graders who stole the show with their costumes and poignant play about caring for your father even after he has grown old. This wonderful day concluded with a delicious lunch served to all the fathers by the lovely ladies who work at the school as well as their volunteer counterparts; who often reminded the guests of honor, not to forget all this good will when Mother's Day rolls around. It is because of the great effort that these men and women put forth each day that we can call NPH Honduras a place for children to feel safe and at peace, a true and complete home filled with a loving and caring family. It is each day that we celebrate what we have, with a smile, a hug, an A+ or a perfect weld. We wish to thank not only the people here, but our sponsors abroad as well for making such a wonderful home, and wish to continue celebrating the love created each day.
